The Role of a Civil Celebrant

A Civil Celebrant is appointed by the Australian Government's Attorney General's Department and is authorised to solemnise marriages anywhere in Australia in accordance with the Marriage Act, 1961. A civil celebrant also has the training to undertake naming ceremonies and funerals.

Traditionally marriage ceremonies, funerals and namegivings have been held in churches, however with so many different cultures and nationalities within our diverse country, a civil celebrant is now becoming a more popular and suitable option.

About Joelene

Iam a Civil Celebrant for ceremonies in Canberra and surrounding NSW . I can also organise travel to other areas if required. I have performed ceremonies that range from traditional ceremonies to more original ceremonies such as pirate themed weddings and pagan ceremonies. I have also worked with wonderful and varying venues such as wineries, beaches and aboard boats. I have performed personalised funerals that rejoice the life of your lost one and help to ensure no extra stress is placed on yourself during your time of mourning.

I am also an authorised civil partnership notary.

I am based on the outskirts of Canberra at Bungendore but over the last  few years has performed many ceremonies in Western Australia and over the last year in Canberrra and surrounds. I have travelled extensively over Australia to deliver special ceremonies to a wide range of couples.

To ensure your day is one that depicts who you are, you will have complete control over the design of your ceremony, however I can offer useful information such as vows and poems  and readings if you need that extra hand. I also ensure that your feel relaxed and comfortable in my presence at all times to ensure you have a stress free ceremony.

Make your day a special occasion by allowing me to perform a ceremony that suits your own personal needs.
